Dry Peeling Skin – How Do I Get Rid Of Dry Peeling Skin?

Author: Franchis
Source: articledashboard.com

Everyone suffers from dry skin every now and then. Sometimes, however, dead skin peels off in such large quantities that it’s impossible not to worry that something is terribly wrong. This article deals with the possible causes of dry peeling skin, its treatments, and whether or not it necessitates a visit to the doctor’s office.

For the most part, peeling dry skin does not constitute a medical emergency. The skin is made of three parts: the top layer (epidermis), a middle layer (dermis), and an inner layer (hypodermis). Every 28 days, the epidermis completely replaces its skin cells. This may result in some peeling, more evident in some people than in others.

Dry peeling skin has many other possible causes. The more common ones include dry skin, sunburn, Vitamin A overdose, and chemical irritation due to exposure to household cleaners and solvents. In the winter, falling temperatures and humidity dehydrates the skin and may cause some peeling. Excessive sun exposure causes the top layer of the skin, the epidermis, to peel naturally. The overdose of Vitamin A (usually in the form of acne-treating gels like Retin-A) can cause the skin to thin and peel. The harsh ingredients in many household cleaners can harm the skin on your hands if you don’t use rubber gloves.

Some of the more serious causes include eczema, psoriasis, or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Eczema is an inflammation of the epidermis and is marked by red, dry skin that may flake, blister, or bleed. Psoriasis is a possibly-genetic medical condition that is characterized by rapidly-growing skin that peel off in scales. TEN, also called toxic skin death, is caused by an unusual allergic reaction to common drugs, such as sulfa drugs, gout medications or penicillin. People afflicted with TEN must be hospitalized.

Another hereditary cause of dry peeling skin is the Peeling Skin Syndrome, a skin condition marked by dry skin that continuously peels off. Redness and itchiness may also accompany the dry peeling skin. Medical consultation is often needed to treat this skin condition.

Most of the common skin-care treatments work well in treating dry peeling skin. For starters, make sure to drink enough fluids daily (a half-gallon is average) to avoid the tendency of getting dry skin in the first place. Dry skin is usually a sign of dehydration.

Resist the temptation to pick or scratch the dry peeling skin: doing so can open breaks in the skin and invite infection. This is particularly dangerous for people with eczema or psoriasis, as the infection can seep into the tissue and worsen the skin condition. To cut a piece of peeling skin, use a pair of fine scissors to snip at the larger flakes. Pulling or tearing at the flakes can cause you to accidentally tear healthy skin with it.

Sticking to a diet rich in protein, iron, and the Vitamins A, B and C can show an improvement in your skin in as little as a month. Protein-rich foods include meat (not fried!), fish, nuts, and dairy products. You can get your iron from beans, peas, and cereals. Lots of citrus fruit and vegetables will help you get your daily intake of Vitamins A, B, and C–and it wouldn’t hurt to throw in a few dietary supplements in for good measure!

Many doctors also suggest a cool shower or Aveeno bath to ease the discomfort of dry peeling skin, especially if the condition affects most parts of the body. Also, make the switch to a milder soap; switching to a cleanser is an even better idea. Two cups of Aveeno in a tub of lukewarm water will do the trick; don’t use hot water as it aggravates dry skin. Make sure you don’t stay in the water for longer than twenty minutes, or risk losing more moisture. After the shower, pat yourself dry and apply moisturizer to the affected areas.

Always wear sunscreen during the day: sun exposure is a leading cause of dry skin and wrinkles. Even then, try to stay in the shade between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This is when ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is at its most concentrated.

When do you go to see the doctor? Rule of thumb for all dry skin problems is to schedule a visit when the dryness and itchiness become severe enough to interfere with common daily activities, such as self-care and sleeping. If you have dry peeling skin, also visit the doctor when the problem escalates with taking a new medication, or if the dry peeling skin comes with a rash.

Civilizations have relied upon oregano oil as a therapeutic herb since antiquity. In around 3000 B.C., the Babylonians described it as a cure for lung and cardiac disease. They also used it for wound healing and venomous bites. The ancient Greeks too, used wild oregano oil for healing wounds, destroying infections and reversing lung and cardiac disorders. Thus, we see a well-knit relationship between human race and the herb. Oil of oregano is also a powerful anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Oregano Oil Usage Here are the following uses for oregano oil are: Alternative medicine: A clinical study concluded that oregano oil worked just as well as antibiotics like penicillin and vancomycin against the Staphylococcus bacteria. The added benefit of using the natural anti-bacterial properties of oregano is that it cannot produce a resistance in the body. Doctors fear that over-use of vancomycin will lead to resistant bacterial strains which will then have no other cures. Oil of oregano is showing promise as a safe alternative. Oregano oil’s power against anthrax spores that is feared to be developed as a biological weapon. Asthma: If you have serious asthma you should contact a doctor immediately. Colon Cleansing at Home – Are There Benefits to Home Colon Cleansing?

Author: William Gunzle
Source: ezinearticles.com

If you want to be in optimal health without breaking the bank, you might consider a colon cleansing at home. The best thing about it being at home is that it is convenient and affordable. But first things first: what is colon cleansing?

Colon cleansing is a term that essentially means “cleansing the colon.” It sounds self-explanatory, but there’s a little more to it than that. As you eat, you naturally build up toxins, acid, plaque, etc. in your bowels, along with waste from foods that your body did not use. This can lead to health problems like constipation, acne, sluggishness, and more. If you are not feeling your best, a colon cleansing is a good thing to try. Think of it as spring-cleaning: a build-up of dirt and grime that you routinely wipe away.

There are some different methods of colon cleansing at home. One is merely fasting, but this is not necessarily the most viable option. Still, it might be worth considering. The reason fasting can help is that the body will spend more time breaking down impurities, and it gives your digestive system a much-needed rest.

You might also try probiotics. These are the opposite of antibiotics, which you take when you’re sick to get rid of bad bacteria and parasites. Unfortunately, an antibiotic kills all bacteria, and probiotics are supplements that will put back the good kind. Even in everyday life, you can use probiotics to ensure that you have enough good bacteria fighting off bad bacteria. This is a good way to practice colon cleansing.

A third way is to purchase a commercial colon cleanser. In this process, you take a commercial cleanser each day over a period of 3-8 weeks while avoiding junk food or overeating. The instructions vary depending on the product, but the idea is that it will help to cleanse your colon of toxins during this time frame, and by the end of it you should feel livelier and healthier. There’s no guarantee that it will fix everything, but people often feel results from a colon cleansing at home, so consider giving it a try.

Buying Manuka Honey in the U.S

Author: Frank Buonanotte
Source: articlesbase.com

Manuka Honey is becoming a well-recognized health remedy in the U.S. market and all over the world. In the quiet, pollution-free countryside of New Zealand, hardworking honeybees gather nectar from a very special flower that grows on a native bush called the Manuka Tea Tree (also known as Leptospermum scoparium). It is this nectar that contains molecules that many believe holds the key to healing many different illnesses. Most recently, Manuka Honey has been gaining worldwide recognition for its ability to eradicate the MRSA bacterium that is responsible for causing life threatening Staph infections that are otherwise impervious to antibiotics. The resilient superbugs associated with MRSA are no match for the potent antibacterial properties of Manuka Honey. Manuka Honey gets its antibacterial properties from 4 main components. It’s osmolarity in effect dehydrates infectious microorganisms by drawing moisture out of bacterial cells. Manuka Honey is also very acidic with pH levels not conducive for bacterial growth. Like other types of honey, Manuka Honey also contains low levels of hydrogen peroxide which is a known antiseptic. What makes Manuka Honey different than other types of honeyÂare the plant-derived floral components that are present, such as methylglyoxal and a not yet recognized compound that has become known as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF. These floral nectar components contribute greatly to its antibacterial activity. In addition to its powerful antibacterial properties, Manuka Honey is also considered to be antimicrobial, anti-fungal, antiviral and anti-parasitic. Since most health conditions are cause by some sort of bacteria, virus, fungus or parasite, Manuka Honey is being recognized as a viable treatment option for many conditions that don’t respond well to traditional forms of medication. When taken orally, Manuka Honey is effective in treating sore throats, strep throat, stomach aches, stomach ulcers, acid reflux disease, gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, gastro-intestinal disorders, cold and flu symptoms, etc. When used topically on the skin, Manuka Honey is effective in treating infected wounds, burns, acne, eczema, ringworm and a variety of other conditions. Since its origin is New Zealand, Manuka Honey can be somewhat hard to come by. Shipping costs from New Zealand to the U.S. can sometimes exceed the amount of the honey itself. However, now U.S. consumers can purchase Honeymark brand Manuka Honey more conveniently. Honeymark’s Manuka Honey is certified by the Active Manuka Honey Association in New Zealand to be active UMF 16+ which is a potent medical-grade honey. Consumers should beware of other companies that sell less potent Manuka Honey for a discounted price. Manuka Honey that is not bioactive does not contain enough antimicrobial properties necessary for medicinal use. Honeymark assures their customers that their Manuka Honey is of medical grade. Honeymark International is known for manufacturing quality skin care products that contain active Manuka Honey as a natural healing agent.ÂHoneymark’s skin care products are not sticky and offer the same benefits of Manuka Honey without the sticky mess.ÂWhen used for internal purposes, Manuka Honey usually outperforms most medicines, with of course, a much more pleasant flavor. If you’re having difficulty getting your children to take medicine when they’re sick, Manuka Honey may be an easier choice. And Manuka Honey is a natural product, it has also been found to have no known side effects. “Manuka Honey has become an extremely important resource and valuable commodity,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “As word continues to spread about the healing ability of this premium honey, it will become viewed more as a natural treatment alternative to pharmaceutical medication.” Honeymark plans to continue to expand its range of Manuka honey-based products to include a Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Lip Balm, Foaming Cleanser and Moisturizer. Customers can expect to see these new products later this year. Exotic beauty products from the Dead Sea

Author: rupender
Source: articlerich.com

Without a doubt, one of the liveliest business and investment ventures rocking the health and beauty industries today is the ancient, venerable Dead Sea.

From mineral-rich black mud body masques to health treatments in thermo-mineral springs and the Dead Sea brine, the region’s abundant cosmetological and therapeutic natural resources are truly legendary.

Cleopatra knew well the value of the naturally beautifying and restorative products that came from the Dead Sea region. She so coveted the bounty of the mineral-laden bath salts, the skin-revitalizing mud baths and the intoxicating balsamic perfumes extracted from the oases that her lover, Marc Anthony, led his troops into a fierce and bloody war to secure the region for his beautiful Queen.
And Cleopatra herself built the very first Dead Sea cosmetic facilities. Visitors to Ein Bokek and the Biblical, historic Ein Gedi can still see the bones of those factories today.

What makes Dead Sea products so clinically beneficial is their source — a unique mix of solar radiation, an oxygen-rich atmosphere and geological features unlike any other on earth.

Flanked by mountains to its east and west, the heavily saline Dead Sea is cradled in a deep, sealed basin with hot, arid air above its surface. More than 400 meters below sea level, the Sea takes in water and mineralized run-off from mountain streams and alluvial springs, but loses the water rapidly to evaporation.

The resultant residue of leeched minerals and thick salts has long been used the world over to relieve the effects of muscle pains, psoriasis and other human ills.

The mineral cocktail produced in the Dead Sea waters and absorbed into the human body is believed to help skin to literally regenerate.

Today, the Dead Sea’s reputation as a healer, revitalizer, replenisher and therapy treatment is thriving. Visitors travel to the Holy Land the year-round to bask on the sunny beaches and luxuriate or heal at one of the many top-quality day spas and treatment centers.

Today’s Dead Sea products aficionados are finding that Cleopatra was right on the target about the value and effectiveness of the region’s bounty!

Based on years of scientific testing, manufacturers report their products will smooth wrinkles, revitalize the skin’s appearance, relieve muscle tension and cure acne.

There are also products to stimulate, cleanse and tighten skin, shrink large pores, rejuvenate hair luster, moisturize dry skin and give a healthy glow to whatever body part is enjoying treatment.

Among the many different types of Dead Sea beauty and pharmaceutical products marketed today are:

• Therapeutic Black Mud masks, soaps, hair restorer, body cleansers, pain relievers, dry-skin treatments and scalp treatments. Many firms also market the mineral-rich mud as a topical application to relieve soreness caused by inflamed muscles.
• Dead Sea mineral-based shampoos, conditioners and anti-dandruff treatments
• Dead Sea bath gels, shower gels, foot spas, foot creams, sun screens, skin toners, and astringents for oily skin
• Dead Sea chloride salts rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, iodine and bromide
• Balsam-based cosmetics, perfumes and medicines.

Zapping the Zit

Acne which is a common problem among teenagers is called by different names: zits, blackheads, whiteheads and many others. It is often seen at the back, arms and most especially the face. Many teens feel embarrass every time they got a huge red lump on their faces. They are inclined to cover their faces to hide the pimples on their faces.

Acne is caused by pores that are clogged by dirt and oil. Merely put it this way: a bottle of soda is blocked with a cork, someone shook the corked soda and it suddenly popped out of the bottle. That’s what happens to acne. The lesion gets infected by the bacteria called bacteria P. acnes (Propioni bacterium) that usually live on the skin. Once infected, the lesion will be filled with pus or the white or yellowish fluid that comes out of your acne. The lesion will be severely inflamed because of the bacteria, dead cells and white blood cells that are confined inside the infected pore. It can penetrate deeper into the skin that’s why it feels painful. Even after the infection, there is a chance that cysts will produce scars which are difficult to get rid of.

How do we prevent it from happening? Proper hygiene would be the simplest and most efficient means to fix the problem. Bear in mind that blocked pores stimulate the infection. Mildly get rid of that dirt by cleansing your face with a mild cleanser and try not to put too much cosmetics on your face. It will definitely solve your issue. Aside from that, easing yourself from stress can go a long way too. Some reports show that stress affects our gland to create more oil and thus result to higher chances of getting acne. Try not to let yourself get affected by problems and it will surely make your life easier.

Bear in mind that acne is something that almost all of us have experienced. Do not let it get the better of you. Zapping the zit is easy once you have already practiced proper hygiene and stress management.

Young Again With The Skin Restore

Author: Mikhail Levitin

The next generation of a skin restorer should satisfy the next generation’s requirements: –
ONE STEP FORMULA; –
ONE LAYER APPLICATION; –
NO MORE MULTIPLE STEPS.

A NATURAL, healthy, anti-wrinkle, odor FREE, anti-aging skin care FORMULA in a ONE STEP application is a dream of everyone who cares even a little bit about aging spots on the face, neck or hands. The final goal is to make your skin healthier and more resilient by locking in moisture on the surface, while improving overall skin tone.

The next generation of SKIN RESTORE should improve blood circulation and help to remove dark circles under the eyes, relieve pain, itches and rejuvenate skin, working to bring it to its natural condition by brining the all necessary nutrients to the surface of the skin. There is a great demand for a healthy anti-wrinkle, anti-aging formula which includes natural cellular rejuvenating nutrients and ingredients for renewed, healthier skin. The next generation of SKIN RESTORE should deliver nature’s best antioxidants, Dead Sea minerals, and cosmeceutical active ingredients to protect your skin from signs of aging and provide a most effective restoration treatment for a damaged skin, as well as to help fade dark, age spots, freckles and skin discoloration on the face, hands and body.

The body replaces billions of cells daily. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and its cells are completely replaced every six to nine months.

Cell renewal is the natural cell turnover rate of normal, healthy skin. As skin cells mature and die, they are sloughed off on your skin’s surface, revealing fresh new cells. This process slows down with age.

Average rate of cell turnover”

Babies…14 days

Teenagers/Young Adults…21-28 days

Middle age people…28-42 days

50+…42-84 days

Staring at the wrinkles around your eyes or laugh lines that have formed around your lips, it would be easy to blame their appearance on aging. But chances are there are other factors that have contributed to their existence. For instance, the Spring Break vacations or weekends you spent sun bathing, surfing or reading by the pool in your teens or 20s can be directly linked to more than 80 percent of your skin’s aging. In fact, did you know that half a lifetime’s worth of UV exposure occurs by age 18? And the reality check doesn’t stop there. Abnormal vital signs, smoking, drinking, poor diet, sleep deprivation and even stress can cause inflammation, dark circles, lines and wrinkles. In fact, some of the efforts you’ve been taking to care for your skin may harm your skin in a long term way. Harsh cleansers or abrasive scrubs may be stripping your skin’s natural oils and moisture levels, and doing more harm than good. Even the moisturizers you use to hydrate your skin can lead to acne, infection or other problems if they include ingredients that prevent your skin from being able to breathe. But do not despair.

There are simple things you can do each day to help restore the radiance and health of your skin. Sure, you can keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and eating healthier, incorporating 5 to 10 serving of fruits and vegetables a day. Even adding a daily multi-nutrient liquid supplement will help. But to get to the heart of your skin’s health, you must restore it at a cellular level as your daily health regimen.

That is why it is vital to deliver to the cells a restoration product that is rich in emollients, antioxidants, vitamins, organic herbs and essential oils that will soothe your skin, reduce inflammation, improve pigmentation, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and much more.

Why Go Natural?

Author: Debbie Borges
Source: ezinearticles.com

Why try natural skin and body care products?

Because your skin absorbs more than 60% of what you put on it! I think this is amazing! It should also be quite an eye opener. If you use commercial soaps and cleansers then you are applying chemicals and synthetic ingredients every day. That means your skin could be absorbing some “not so great” stuff! Yuck!

Instead, imagine using a face cream made with moisturizing vegi oils, conditioning emulsifiers, soothing oats and luxurious rose petals? I have! It is amazing! How about a soap made with vegi oils and soothing herbs? Wow!

There are many natural ingredients that can do wonderful things.

Herbs for example are not given enough credit. Basil is one that we love in our pasta sauce. But did you know that it also make a great toner that helps control acne? How about Rosemary? It is delicious on baked chicken but it also helps eliminate oily skin and promotes healthy, shiny hair.

Take a look around your kitchen. You may find baking soda. Of course it is useful in cakes and breads. But it is also a dentist recommended tooth cleaner, (that really works)!

How about vegi oils? Many people use coconut oil for cooking. It is one of the healthiest fats available. It is also helps heal dry, cracked skin and it creates a fluffy lather when used to make soaps.

Even sugar…it’s in our beverages and deserts. But it also makes a great body scrub. It polishes the skin and leaves you silky smooth.

The list of natural ingredients is endless. The benefits they provide are terrific! And since our skin readily absorbs what we put on it, why not use simple, pure healthy ingredients?

I have switched to natural and I will never go back! You should too!
