There is a long list of beauty and skin care products that promises anyone acne-free skin. In truth, there is no single way to treat acne. There may be different ways of preventing and eliminating acne because this skin problem may differ according to a persons skin type.
Astringents are by far the most common skin care regimen in the market today. Aside from being affordable, they are rarely known to have any damaging side effects. They are cleansers that help prevent acne and not really a medication. Take note that astringents are not advisable to be applied to the acne itself because they may clog pores. Astringents are best for maintaining and preventing future acne breakouts and if you already have a pimple-free face, then astringents are recommended for maintenance.
The word astringent comes from the Latin astringere which means to bind fast. Because of astringents cleansing properties it could also heal insect bites, minor cuts, and other infections. They are mainly composed of chemical substances that allow body tissue to shrivel. Astringents when applied to the skin can effectively protect it from harmful substances that can worsen or generate acne but because astringents have the tendency to dry skin, it is important to use appropriate moisturizers after each application. Be sure to stay out of the suns glare or use a sunscreen protection.
You can try over-the-counter astringents you can find in the drugstore or beauty shops. They come in different concentrations, so be sure to get one that is suitable for you. In commercial products, astringents can contain silver nitrate, zinc sulfate and oxide, and benzoin. It may also have some amounts of tannic and gallic acids. Alternatively, you can also use natural products in place of synthetic products. You can try oatmeal, talc, alum, light cleansing alcohol, witch hazel and even very cold water.
Keeping your face acne-free is just a matter of good hygiene. Wash your face with clean water and a good soap or facial scrub every night. The key to a blemish-free skin is maintenance. You can try using astringents if it proves to be suitable to your skin type but remember to consult your dermatologists if irritation occurs.br

Although your back stays hidden most of the time, it is still prone to acne. You may not have the chance to wear that revealing backless dress or those swimming trunks if you have acne all over your back. Men are more prone to back acnes than women, although women may have breakouts as well.
Back acne is also many times jokingly referred to as “bacne”. It is more difficult to treat than acnes in your facial area. Oil is one of the factors that can contribute to acne breakouts. Your back has several sebaceous glands that generate oils, which is also the reason why your back area is prone to acne.
There are basically four reasons why acnes exist. When there is an increase in sebum production, acne is sure to breed. Hormones, bacteria and follicle changes also contribute to acne problems. Breakouts increase when your back perspires too much and sweat clogs your pores. It is recommended that you wear loose clothes made of cotton to promote good airflow.
If you are used to using backpacks, you might want to change this habit. Backpacks can rub through your back, which can cause irritation. They can also strain your back, which cause your back to sweat. You can opt to use shoulder or handheld bags instead.
Since sweat is your number one enemy, always see to it that you shower minutes after you finish heavy jobs or workouts. Buy one of those long back scrubbers and use it in every time you take a shower. You can also use a cleanser or exfoliator when you scrub your back. Be sure to get a mild formula since strong cleanser and exfoliators can irritate the skin quite easily. Just remember not to overdo it since too much scrubbing can tear the back of your skin. After you shower, you can apply ointments that have ingredients like salicyclic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
If home treatment is not suitable for you and acne is still present on your skin, it is best that you consult your dermatologist. They can prescribe oral antibiotics and other treatments that can be effective for your specific skin type and condition.

There are tons of beauty regimens that you can readily purchase from drugstores that can help you prevent acne. The long list can be really overwhelming but if there is one classic and effective way of combating acne, that would be the power of cleaning your face with water and mild cleansers.
Gentle cleansing is really important in treating and preventing acne. It can also prevent further irritation. If you can see that your face shows signs of irritation and reddening, then it could easily lead to breakouts. To make sure that you have a mild cleanser, look for words like “oil-free”, “hypoallergenic”, “dermatologically tested” or “non-comedogenic”. Some mild cleansers could also contain some medications like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, which are good components in fighting acne.
There are three types of mild cleansers that you can choose from. These include wipe-off cleansers, mild soaps and water-soluble cleansers. Make-up removers and cold creams fall under the category of wipe-off cleansers. In choosing soaps as cleansers, choose those that say “mild” or “non-drying”. It is also important that your cleansing soap should contain moisturizers to lock on moisture to your skin. Water-soluble cleansers are the gentlest cleansers amongst the three types of cleansers.
It is advisable to wash your face every morning when you wake up and before you head off to sleep to wash the day’s pollution and residues off your face. Do not scrub your face with hard towels, washcloths or scrubbers. Scrubbing is unnecessary because dirt in itself is not the main cause of the acne at all. Be gentle with your skin, not fight with it. You can use your bare hands to gently massage through your face. Remember not to overdo washing, excessive washing can strip of natural oils of your skin and can dry them.
After washing, pat dry your face with a soft towel. Do not rub off the water from your face. Rubbing can cause reddening and can irritate your skin as well. When your skin dries, then you can put on any medication that is recommended by your dermatologists. Even if you were no longer actively using a treatment, cleansing you face properly would surely chase that acne away.

Everyone would love to have a fair and clear complexion, especially in the facial area. No one would want to see a zit appearing anywhere on his or her body. Because it is such a dreaded thing, there are several myths about acne that sprout here and there. Most of these myths are creating confusion and most of them are nothing but misinformation. To keep track on how to properly prevent acne, here are the truths behind acne myths.
Chocolate can cause acne
Food high in sugar may not be always good for the body but eating chocolate alone cannot cause acne. There are no medical studies to prove such a claim. It is important to note that each individual would have a different reaction to certain foods. You may notice that after eating a bar of chocolate, zits start to appear. Some may have the same reaction to salty foods. If this the case, then you can stay clear of foods that you observe to bring you acne.
Washing your face often would prevent acne for good
Washing your face regularly would definitely help remove oil and dirt from your skin. Although oil and dirt can be factors why acne breeds, they are not the only cause of acne. Hormonal effects on one’s sebaceous glands basically cause acne breakouts. Remember that washing your face too much can lead to dryness and skin irritation, which can lead to further breakouts. It is safe to wash your face twice a day with a mild soft or a gentle cleanser.
Stress causes acne
Acne is not related to emotional stress in any case. If you are taking in medication to help you cope with stress, then these drugs can possibly have side effects causing acne breakouts.
Don’t ever use make-up if you want to achieve a perfect skin
There may be an exemption to this. There are several cosmetics that you can purchase that wouldn’t induce breakouts. Look for the terms “nonacnegenic” or “noncomedogenic” in the manufacturing labels of the cosmetics you buy. These should be safe to use. Some concealers now come with benzoyl peroxide, which can effectively prevent pimples.
